At Regent, our Executive Leadership Team plays a vital role in shaping our strategy, culture, and future. Through our ELT Spotlight series, we’re proud to introduce the leaders who guide our mission and drive operational excellence across the organization.

This month, we’re highlighting Greg Miller, Chief Human Resources Officer. His team is responsible for building, retaining and engaging the team that is redefining surgical care.

Tell us a little about your background and what brought you to Regent.

I began my career as a university professor and gradually transitioned into consulting. I discovered a strong passion for partnering with organizations and leaders to improve leadership capability, influence, and overall performance. My professional foundation was in Organizational Effectiveness and Talent Management, which later broadened into a wide range of Human Resources disciplines. I eventually joined Concentra, which marked my entry into health care—a field I have now been part of for nearly 20 years, with experience spanning urgent care, radiology, acute hospitals, home health, and surgery centers.

What ultimately brought me to Regent was the people, the culture, and the strategy. The vision to redefine surgical care through strong partnerships with employees, physicians, health systems, and payers is truly inspiring, and the more time I spent speaking with leaders across the organization, the more I recognized just how special Regent’s culture truly is.

What’s your top priority or initiative right now for Regent and/or our ASCs?

My primary goal is to attract, retain and engage the right talent to meet Regent’s clinical and financial goals. I want to ensure that we have the best team in place to perform effectively every day.

Who or what has influenced your leadership style the most?

Many people and experiences have shaped my leadership over the years. I’ve been fortunate to work alongside exceptional colleagues and leaders at outstanding organizations, each of whom influenced how I think about leadership. One mentor played a pivotal role in keeping me grounded for nearly 30 years. He consistently challenged me to think about balance—balancing listening with offering perspective, family with work, and seriousness with a sense of fun. That emphasis on balance has deeply shaped my approach to leadership, both personally and professionally.

How does your work impact patients, providers, or partners?

I believe we are fundamentally a people business. While many elements contribute to delivering outstanding care, it ultimately comes down to the moments that matter—each employee’s interaction with a patient, a family member, or a colleague. I am continually humbled by our center leaders and staff. The compassion they show, combined with their clinical expertise and commitment to quality, is truly exceptional and makes a meaningful difference every day.

What’s your favorite Regent culture initiative?

One of my favorite Regent culture initiatives is the Regent Spirit Award. This program recognizes employees who truly exemplify our core values of compassion, ingenuity, and perseverance. Team members are encouraged to nominate their colleagues when they see those values in action, which makes the recognition especially meaningful.

I have the privilege of sharing the award recipients at our Town Halls, and it’s one of the highlights of my role. Hearing the stories of how our employees go above and beyond for our patients and for one another is incredibly inspiring. It reinforces that people do the right thing not because they have to, but because it reflects who they are and the culture we’ve built together.
