Wasilla, Alaska – best known as the headquarters for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race – is not the place one would normally associate with the expansion of robotic-assisted surgery.
But the Surgery Center of Wasilla (SCOW), which is operated by Regent Surgical, is defying expectations by bringing tech-powered medical innovations to that market.
SCOW launched its robotic-assisted surgery program in October 2025, aiming to bring access to complex surgeries closer to home for Wasilla patients. Since then, the ambulatory surgery center (ASC) has expanded its use of robotics across a range of procedures, including hernia repairs, gallbladder surgery and hysterectomies.
