Donna Slosburg, RN, CASC, executive director of ASC Quality Collaboration (ASC QC) was this year’s winner of the Nap Gary Legacy Award for Lifetime Achievement in the ASC Community.
Slosburg, who is retiring this summer after 13 years of extraordinary service as the first and only executive director of the ASC Quality Collaboration, received the award during the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association (ASCA) 2019 Conference and Expo in Nashville.
“It is fitting that Donna Slosburg was this year’s winner,” says Kathleen Bernicky, BSN, VP of Risk Management and Clinical Operations for Regent. “Donna has been a great resource to the Regent Surgical Health clinical team through the years, especially when it comes to patient safety and quality measure questions. Donna has volunteered her time to speak at two of Regent’s Director of Nursing conferences educating our ASC leaders on the importance and need for collecting and reporting clinical outcome data I admire her for all she has contributed to the ASC industry in the area of patient safety and quality.”
Nap Gary joined Regent Surgical Health in 2006, serving as president and COO, overseeing operations for the company’s network of surgery centers. His tireless work on behalf of ASCs included frequent speaking engagements at industry conferences and leading ASCA’s early advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill. In 2016, ASCA recognized the late Nap Gary with a legacy award in his honor. Gary proposed the award for outstanding service to the ASC community before the 2015 annual meeting; prior to his unexpected passing.
“We congratulate Donna on this achievement and know that she is leaving a rich legacy of service and integrity,” says Regent co-founder Thomas Mallon. “Nap would be proud. His contributions impact both Regent and the ASC community to this day. He came to Regent never having run a surgery center but quickly made his mark. He was always kind – what you saw in public was Nap in private. Nap was taken away too early from us and his family. He had so much to contribute to his wife, his kids and his colleagues. We continue to remember his humor, his intellect and his integrity; we are all made better by knowing him.”
