Chicago, IL – (07/05/2013) – Regent Surgical Health and its physician partners at the Plaza Ambulatory Surgery Center today announced a new joint venture with the not-for-profit Providence Portland Medical Center. The 483-bed Providence Portland Medical Center is part of Providence Health & Services network, the largest private employer in Oregon. Regent now partners with 25 surgical facilities in the United States and Europe; 19 of which are hospital / physician ASC joint ventures. “We see partnerships with not-for-profit facilities as a key area of growth for our company,” says Regent CEO, Tom Mallon. “Our number of joint ventures with not-for-profits is steadily increasing, and we expect that trend to continue.” “Providence Health & Services is pleased to be involved in the development of the Plaza Ambulatory Surgery Center, which will be located on the Providence Portland Medical Center campus,” said Miriam Odermann, ambulatory services chief executive, Providence Health & Services Oregon Region. “This new joint venture between PH&S, 26 individual physicians, and Regent Surgical Health will provide our patients with an affordable, quality outpatient surgery experience in a convenient location.” Plaza Ambulatory Surgery Center is planned to open in the summer of 2014 with general surgery, ENT, pain management, endoscopy, podiatry and urology as the tentatively available specialties at the center. “This partnership will bring direct benefits for our patients and physician partners,” says Dr. Justin Rufener, board president at Plaza. “Providence Portland Medical Center shares our focus on patient service and quality of care, and this partnership will help us provide high quality, convenient and efficient outpatient surgery on the Providence Portland campus.”
