Regent CEO Chris Bishop was a guest on a recent episode of Becker’s Healthcare Podcast to discuss the evolution of the ambulatory surgery center industry with host Scott Becker. Bishop shared that while ASCs have been leaders in providing cost-efficient, high-quality care for decades, they are now focused on how to break through the “sea of sameness” and offer a more customized patient and physician experience.
In the episode, he offered insights he is applying from his own recent experience as a surgical patient in a hospital setting. Patients are often anxious or preoccupied when they arrive for surgery. Regent is working to automate the majority of the intake experience and shift it to be completed before the day of surgery — allowing for more time to answer questions, assuage fears, and communicate with caregivers.
Bishop also discussed investing in technology to tailor communication to physician preferences, improve patient care in the surgery center setting, and design facilities that enhance the quality of life for clinical staff.
