Regent Surgical Health today announced that Melissa Szabad, a partner with Chicago law firm McGuireWoods and the Company’s outside counsel, will be joining Regent as General Counsel and serving as a member of Regent’s executive leadership team.
Szabad has deep experience in healthcare corporate and regulatory matters, with expertise in ambulatory surgery centers.
“Regent has benefited from Melissa’s sharp legal expertise and steady leadership having previously provided counsel on a number of complex deals,” said Regent CEO Chris Bishop. “She is the perfect person to lead our legal team during this period of expansion. Her principled approach and background will be invaluable as we continue to partner with hospitals and physicians on joint ventures to develop, own, and manage ASC facilities, giving more patients access to the quality of care they deserve.”
Szabad earned a J. D., Order of the Coif, at DePaul University College of Law, and a B.A., magna cum laude, at Kenyon College. She has spent her career at McGuire Woods.
“I’ve had the privilege of working with Regent as outside counsel since Regent was formed in 2001, just a year after I began my legal career,” said Szabad. “We have built a strong relationship through the years, and I am excited to become a full-time member of the Regent team, particularly during this time of the company’s rapid transformation and growth.”
Since 2001, Regent has developed, owned, and managed ASC facilities in partnership with hospitals and physicians and has grown to become the nation’s largest independent health system joint venture-focused ASC operator. For more information, click here.
